Ivy Park: The Best Thing I Never Had

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you know that Beyonce dropped her first Ivy Park capsule through her new partnership with Adidas.  The launch was epic, as you may have imagined.  She teased several product videos on her Instagram account and gave pieces from the line to a number of celebrities, from Zendaya to Reese Witherspoon.  A celebrity giving clothes to other celebrities, much to their excitement, is really the ultimate flex that only Beyonce could pull off.

Beyonce herself models the clothes on the website, in true Diva fashion. She can be seen dropping it, twerking, dancing, being active (and even silly) while showcasing the garments' design and quality. Truth is, we would take her word for it, and most of us won't do half of that stuff while wearing the clothes anyway.  Ever the performer though, she makes even that entertaining to watch!

Fanfare aside, the style of the collection itself is downright Flawless. There are some exquisite pieces that will likely exceed your expectations of athleisure, even by today's standards. The capsule is cohesive in terms of both the design and color scheme, a highly differentiated maroon and orange combination. I fell Crazy in Love with just about every piece.

The line boasts a complete, elevated collection of shoes, jackets, bodysuits, dresses, and bottoms. Leggings you can Run The World or just Party in are on deck. The usual suspects of any activewear line are also available, like sweatpants and hoodies. All of these so-called basics look super stylish in the Ivy Park collection. Bey even designed a 3-stripe grill for those who dare…you’ll need a pretty big Ego to pull that off.

The only thing better than the look of this inaugural capsule is the affordability factor.  They kept true to the Adidas model (and Ivy Park's previous run) with very reasonable pricing. Most of these pieces look as though they cost a great deal more. I appreciate that Bey really put Love On Top and made her line accessible, as many celebrities take a different approach by going the high-end couture route.  A true Queen, indeed.

The modest prices mean that more people could get their hands on the pieces, and that's exactly what happened. If you didn’t Check On It relentlessly, you likely missed it, as I did. I was Sorry to see that the entire line literally sold out in hours, even though it apparently launched a day early.

If you're like me, you're too lazy even to attempt to track the pieces down locally, and it's doubtful that you would have any luck at this point anyway. I’ve realized that I may be waiting Until The End Of Time for the line to come back in stock, if this capsule ever will. The excitement around the Adidas x Ivy Park launch did renew my interest in cute, affordable athletic clothes though. The type of looks that provide versatility and Freedom – for inside and outside of the gym. That said, here are some of the pieces I have my eye on, in the meantime.

Nike Tech Fleece Short Sleeve Top $49
So cute, and with a matching skirt.

Nike Dri-Fit Showtime Women’s Basketball Hoodie $90
The color of this jacket feels so fresh.  The matching pants are fitted, yet not super clingy….like a jogger-y legging.

Adidas Cotton Camo Sweatshirt $70
A fresh twist on camouflage, and perfect for transitioning into Spring.  Don’t forget to grab the matching jogger.

Adidas Swift Run Sneaker $85
These go great with the pink camo look.

Nike Court Women’s Tennis Bodysuit $90
Now, you could put a tennis skirt over this, but why would you?

Nike Air Max React 270 Sneaker $160
These Air Max’s go great with the bodysuit…and everything else in your closet.

Nike Pro Fleece Pullover Hoodie $80
Who can resist a hot pink hoodie?

Puma Classics Cutout Dress $50
Sportswear doesn’t get prettier than this.

Nike Sculpt Lux Women’s 7/8 Leggings $90
These are some of the best leggings money can buy...a SNOBTIMIST pick, for sure.
